The Right Path Mentorship Program provides mentoring to youth with or at-risk for serious emotional disturbances due to depression, domestic violence and substance abuse in the family. These problems, which may occur either singularly or in combination, can pose serious threats to a child’s well being.
The Right Path Program provides support and guidance for youth in their search for identity and improving their hope for the future. Our program addresses opportunities for youth to receive core value training and lifestyle enrichment activities while interacting with older, responsible peers who serve as role models and program mentors.
The primary goals and objectives of the program are to improve, the social, economic, and life-skills outcomes of both at-risk and non at-risk youths. The Right Path Program seeks to influence major social and psychological factors that promote the initiation and early use of violence and substances abuse in young males and females.
Program Activities Include:
Life Skills-Training: Self Esteem, Goal Setting and Decision Making, Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, Peer Resistance, Listening and Communication Skills, Health, Sex, Drugs, and Alcohol Abuse
Counseling: Group open floor discussion, One-on-One counseling sessions, Mentoring
Education / Career Development: Financial Management, Computer Literacy, College Orientation and Visitation, Tutoring
The program is derived from the concept that every youth has a desire to be successful in life. With the proper coordination and development we believe that the choices you make will determine your path. We employ teaching modules to instruct in social skills, self-esteem, character building, and anger management to name a few. We also have systems in place that provide feedback on outcomes for all of the concepts taught and employ positive reinforcement methods to help with goal setting and to promote positive interactions.
The Right Path Program emphasizes the positive aspects of a youth’s personality and build upon it by providing a nurturing environment where the youth feel that they are worthy. This is accomplished by emphasizing the positive aspects of the individual’s personality and not rejecting them because of negative behavior caused by emotional problems.
Our services are designed to be supportive (not blaming) to the youth or their families. Each youth will have the opportunity to demonstrate through activities and role-playing what they have learned from each concept.
Right Path Program teaches on many of the risk factors that most teens will deal with in their development and replace that risk with practical solutions that meets our young people needs.
