THE CHARLOTTE  BLACK  REPERTORY  THEATRE

BUILDING  A  DYNAMIC  SPIRITED COMMUNITY ONE  PERFORMANCE  AT A TIME

ADVANCING THE  ART IN  THE  FUTURE  HEALTH  EDUCATION  THROUGH  THEATER

The Charlotte Black Repertory Theatre is a development for the future as a result of a collaborative partnership with Berkely Black Repertory Group,  of Berkeley, California to provide Health Education Through Theatre (HETT) by linking health literacy intervention to alterrnative theatre.  Health literacy was design as a care regiment for patients with high risk of hypertension, stroke, heart attacks, and other cardiovascular disorders.

HETT programs are design to transmitt consistent health messages on a ongoing basic and actively engaged at-risk individuals in relevant healthcare concerns, by particpating in a series of on site educational events, information sessions, and skits.

Living Waters Inc and the Charlotte Black Repertory Theatre (CBRT) hope to build a theater company in Charlotte that will exemplify a central commitment to the art, health, and community wellness with a wide range of other activities swirling in a constant motion around an astounding range of artistic possibilities and technical capabilities, while preserving all that is great about Charlotte and it’s communities.

The CBRT can become a pillar of cultural life in Charlotte. The Queen City needs a strong  theatrical arena to ensure it’s place on the national  stage.  Our city deserves nothing less than it’s ability to maintain it’s leadership in attracting a diverse audience to participate in the range of programs we will offer.  CBRT believes that it has the power to offer a diverse range of programs that will satisfy a range of interests and reflect the diversity of it’s community.

The boldness of CBRT to plan and design a theatre company that truly respresent the community it serves, coupled with the power of it’s gifts to produce artistic production  and it’s commitment to the community, will anchor the redevelopment and revitalization of Charlotte.
